You have the chance to submit a portfolio of eight images to show us what you are capable of. We only ask that the portfolio falls within the boundary of photographic reportage: including photojournalism, documentary photography and portraiture. The theme or subject matter is up to you. The award was set up in 1986 in memory of photojournalist David Hodge who died, aged 29, in the course of his work. The Observer is renowned for its use of photography and through The Observer Hodge Photographic Award has been instrumental in launching the careers of young photographers and bringing their work to a wider audience. Submit your portfolio and you could enjoy cash prizes, an expenses-paid assignment for The Observer and get the chance to see your work in Observer Magazine.
