| Celebrity etiquetteAiming for boyish good looks? Well, a sixth-form fringe isn't fooling anyone Laura Potter Sunday February 3, 2008 The Observer Readers, we're worried. About Britney's antics and Amy's rehab , of course, but mainly about the state of male celebrity hair. The trend for a weird school-boy fringe is reaching epic proportions. We noted Gavin Henson's dalliance with the Kel Knight from Kath & Kim side-sweep in the summer, but we hoped he'd recognise the error of his ways. Then Zac Efron modelled a disturbingly long crop, but we hoped that was because he's 20 and attempting to look like he's in high school. But Mark Ronson and Tom Cruise have no such excuse. And Ronson took it further by matching schoolboy hair with uniform-esque clothes. Cruise, on the other hand, had a change of do to play Colonel von Stauffenberg in forthcoming film Valkyrie but, in our humble opinion, he's had plenty of time to lose the Nazi mane. Note to celebrities: fascists do not good style icons make. Alex James could also do with a good trim instead of wandering about with a weird, clumpy fringe dangling in his eyes. At least Johnny Depp washes his. Playing infamous Fleet Street barber Sweeney Todd hasn't inspired him to take a trip to his hairdresser - he rocked up to the film's British premiere blinking through his lengthy fringe but, credit where it's due, the facial hair stops him looking like a school boy bunking off. Our advice? Lose the dos, boys. We're struggling to stifle fits of schoolgirl giggles whenever we see your photographs. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
