Take a Brake

OMM reader wins prize; Turin Brakes play gig in her front room

Sunday February 1, 2004
The Observer

Shirley Love won the chance to see her favourite band in an OMM competition last year (run in conjunction with the record store Fopp)- and didn't have to leave home, because the Turin Brakes came to her.

A 25-year old copywriter, Shirley had last seen the group at the V2003 festival. Now they played an hour-long set for her and 20 friends in her front room. Sausage rolls were on the rider, and a pair of knickers were thrown on stage.

'Loads of fun,' said the Brakes. 'The gig of a lifetime,' according to Shirley.
