Observer
'Violence fear over Islam film' (World, last week), inadvertently said Geert Wilders was one of nine members of the extremist VVD (Freedom) party in the 150-seat Dutch lower house. We meant the PVV (Party for Freedom), which Wilders founded after he left the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD).An agency picture of 7/7 bomber Shehzad Tanweer, used on the cover of The Observer Magazine last week, was supplied with an incorrect caption, which we repeated. We said Tanweer was a 'sports sciences student at Leeds University'; he actually studied at Leeds Metropolitan University. Apologies.
'Doctors "must own up to blunders"' (News, last week) called MSSA (methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus) 'a variant of the MRSA superbug', which it is not; it is treatable with standard antibiotics, but not resistant to them like MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). And it's Leslie, not Lesley, 'Did Lesley Ash deserve £5m?' (The Observer Panel, last week).
Captions to pictures of Olga Mamonova and Aizel Trudel were transposed in 'How Russia's new super-rich are buying cool' (Observer Woman, No. 25). Apologies.
'What do I do with my Lantern roses?' asked a heading in The Observer Magazine, last week. We meant Lenten roses.
