Employers are being urged to mark Father's Day today by agreeing to let working dads spend more time with their children.
The call by the Equal Opportunities Commission followed new research which showed that fathers are spending more time at work. The average working week for a father last year was 47.3 hours, up from 45.1 hours in 1998.
Car plunges from bridge
A man died when his car left the road, crashed through a bridge and plunged on to a railway line, police said. The accident happened at Athlington bridge on the A351, a mile south of Corfe Castle in Dorset, between Friday evening and yesterday morning.
Detective arrested
A detective with the Metropolitan Police has been suspended after being arrested on suspicion of intending to deal in drugs, Scotland Yard said.
He is being held in custody after being arrested in connection with alleged offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act, including possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
